Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake turns the bartender into a martial art

If it seems like this scene is really putting Holland to the test, it’s probably because it is. Still, that has nothing to do with the toughest stunt he had to pull off for “Uncharted.” Yeah, I mean the same one that keeps popping up in pretty much every TV spot and movie trailer, where Nathan is pulled from the back of a plane mid-flight after entangling his ankle with a chain of fully stocked pallet boards.

Holland spoke about this particular stunt in a previous behind-the-scenes promo, explaining:

“Sometimes I’d be a hundred feet in the air, strapped to a spinning box, and then I’d hold on until it knocked me off balance. And it was really scary, but I think that level of fear makes this scene even more authentic. It’s the most difficult action sequence I’ve ever done.

Credit where credit is due, Holland is absolutely doing his part to give moviegoers all the bang for their buck when it comes to his “Uncharted” stunts and fight scenes. Of course, we’ll find out if the rest of the film is up to par soon enough, too.

“Uncharted” was directed by Ruben Fleischer (“Venom”, “Zombieland: Double Tap”), based on a screenplay credited to Rafe Judkins (“The Wheel of Time”) and writing duo Art Marcum and Matt Holloway ( “Iron Man,” “Men in Black: International”). It hits theaters on February 18, 2022.
